You are the Dwelling Place

God originally came down to the Garden of Eden to spend time with Adam and Eve. However, they made one decision based in deception and that changed. As we can see in Genesis 3:8 NKJV: “And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.” Adam and Eve were used to being in God’s presence and spending time with Him. However, this time, they hid themselves because they knew they had done something God told them not to do. He had forewarned them of the consequences which they would now begin to experience and everyone thereafter. They went from experiencing the fullness of God’s presence to now experiencing shame, which was never something they were created to experience. Nor is it something we were created to experience. God always intended for us to experience His presence and be in fellowship with Him.
And God’s intention has never changed which is one of the reasons, in His loving kindness, He provided us with another chance through Jesus. This time, His presence would not be limited to a specific place or space but would be freely afforded to anyone who would willingly receive Jesus. This time, thanks to Jesus, God was not only making a way for us to experience His presence and be in fellowship with Him, but He was also making a way for us to become His dwelling place. Because not only can you now experience God’s presence and enter into fellowship with Him, but you also become His dwelling place thanks to Him providing you with His Spirit. And His Spirit will also help you to not be deceived unlike Adam and Eve.
God would first signify this after Jesus’ death as seen in Matthew 27:50-51 NLT: “Then Jesus shouted out again, and He released His spirit. At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart.” Through Jesus, entrance to God and His presence would now be accessible to everyone. Yet, He was not stopping there as He lets us know in Romans 8:11 NLT: “The Spirit of God, Who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, He will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.” God was letting us know how important we are to Him and how worthy He sees us because He was now providing a way for His Spirit to be in us. He was wanting us to know how we are to be His holy vessel becoming a representation of Him and His Kingdom on earth.
God was wanting us to know it was no longer about a building or a place, but it was about being His children, being His body, being His personal building walking around in the flesh for all to see His glory and splendor. Ephesians 2:18-22 TPT tells us: “And now, because we are united to Christ, we both have equal access in the realm of the Holy Spirit to come before the Father! So, you are not foreigners or guests, rather you are the children of the city of the holy ones, with all the rights as family members of the household of God. You are rising like the perfectly fitted stones of the temple; and your lives have been built up together upon the foundation laid by the apostles and prophets, and best of all, you are connected to the Head Cornerstone of the building, the Anointed One, Jesus Christ Himself! This entire building is under construction and is continually growing under His supervision until it rises up completed as the holy temple of the Lord Himself. This means that God is transforming each one of you into the Holy of Holies, His dwelling place, through the power of the Holy Spirit living in you!”
Each one of us, who have His Spirit living on the inside of us, through our life in Jesus, are now the dwelling place of God’s Spirit. Allow His Spirit, Holy Spirit, living in you to reveal to you the powerhouse you are in and through Him. Allow Him to minister to you who you truly are and are to God as His beloved child. Allow Him to continue completing the work in you as you continually learn how to think, act, and live as His dwelling place on earth. Be His building, the dwelling place He calls you to be, each and every day set a part for Him. See yourself as joined together as one big building representing God’s family as a beckon beckoning others to join in by becoming His dwelling place placing them in His family.
